MARSHALL SUBACH INDEPENDENT FOR CIRCUIT COURT JUDGE

I was born and raised in Wood Dale. I am a product of Wood Dale School District 7 school system and graduated from Fenton High School in Bensenville. My wife Kirstin and I have raised our three daughters, Madeleine, Abigail and Sarah in Wood Dale. My wife is a math and science teacher at Wood Dale Junior High for 15 years. This great community has truly shaped me and my family.

In 2022, the Illinois legislature created the 1st Judicial Subcircuit made up of Addison, Bensenville, Glendale Heights, Villa Park, and Wood Dale. The legislature wanted the DuPage County judiciary to include individuals that live within this district.

WHY AN INDEPENDENT

I’m running as an Independent for DuPage Circuit Court Judge. I believe that the judiciary must be independent and judicial elections should be nonpartisan. Nationally, we are seeing the sanctity and independence of the judiciary questioned. The judiciary must return to its independence, return to its critical checks and balances of the other branches of government. Politics do not belong in the courtroom.

Judges should not be political; they should be independent.

If I ran with an established party, I would have needed simply 500 signatures from voters to get my name on the ballot. As an Independent, I needed 2,456 signatures in 90 days to get on the ballot. We obtained approximately 4000 petition signatures in order to give voters a choice on November 5, 2024. I was glad to have the opportunity to talk to these voters about the need for an independent judiciary. I am proudly the only candidate running for DuPage County Circuit Judge as an Independent.

MY MOTIVATION TO RUN

Like many of you, my family is the foundation of my life. Making sure all our children grow up in a safe, secure and fair world, with equal opportunities, is a mission for me. It is what we owe to the next generation.

Beyond my law practice and community involvement, raising three daughters is the most important part of my life. It’s amazing to watch my daughters grow up in the same town and attend the same public schools as their parents. It is even more interesting to watch their mother teach them 7th grade math. I may never have mastered how to French braid hair, but I am the definition of a girl dad.

Supporting and mentoring young students, including my own girls, has been a passion for me. I serve as a director of the Wood Dale Foundation for Educational Excellence. With the help of many, the Foundation has raised tens of thousands of dollars for teachers and students of Wood Dale Dist. 7 for classroom needs and student support.

I coached girls’ basketball in the community for eight years. Some of the girls I coached have now graduated from college and are beginning their professional careers. I am proud to support their achievements.

A LITTLE BACKGROUND

I have practiced law for 29 years in DuPage County. My law practice, Hunt & Subach, Ltd. is located in Bensenville.  I am a general practitioner representing individuals and family-owned businesses in a variety of legal matters. I have extensive court room experience in civil litigation and have the knowledge, experience and temperament to be on the bench. I have a wide range of experience in law division cases, chancery cases, probate and criminal cases. I have also argued cases before the Second District Appellate Court.

I served as an Alderman for the City of Wood Dale from 1999 to 2007. While on the City Council, I always supported the police department and fully funded their requests.  I also began the initiative to rebuild the Wood Dale train station.

My pledge is simple.  I promise to apply the law as written equally to all individuals that appear before me.  If elected, I will proudly represent Addison, Bensenville, Glendale Heights, Villa Park and Wood Dale on the bench in DuPage County.

I would very much appreciate your support and vote.
